A Botanical Haven

Set across 50 acres, the award-winning gardens at Cashel House Hotel are a sanctuary of beauty, tranquility, and natural wonder. Benefiting from the warmth of the Gulf Stream, they burst into life each spring with a stunning display of blossoms. Meandering pathways lead through secluded spaces, where benches invite quiet reflection amid vibrant rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, and rare magnolias—many imported from Tibet. Enchanting and serene, these gardens have offered the perfect retreat for relaxation and inspiration for over 100 years.

Very Rare Trees

Cashel House is home to a remarkable collection of rare trees, carefully cultivated since the early 20th century. Former resident and botanist Jim O’Mara transformed the orchard into a walled Secret Garden filled with exotic species from around the world. A full list of these extraordinary trees is available at reception.

Aromatic Garden

Our aromatic herb garden is nurtured naturally, with nutrient-rich seaweed from the nearby shore and a few secret ingredients serving as the perfect fertiliser. Free from chemicals, it provides fresh herbs that enhance the flavours of our dishes, straight from garden to table.

Seafront Relaxation

Enjoy the serene seafront at Cashel House Hotel, where the grounds extend to the tranquil shores of Cashel Bay. Relax in peaceful seafront seating options, take in breathtaking coastal views, and embrace the rhythm of the changing tides. At high tide, enjoy a refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean for a true connection with nature.

The De Gaulle Seat

During his stay at Cashel House Hotel in 1969, President De Gaulle often took long walks through the gardens. De Gaulle’s favourite spot for contemplation was a particular hillside with a peaceful view over Cashel Bay, he even moved a bench himself to a higher vantage point to enjoy the view. This special place is now known as The De Gaulle Seat, marked in his honour within the gardens.

Hiking Cashel Hill

Our guests may walk along the seashore, through woods and streams and eventually hike to the summit of Cashel Hill where the breathtaking panoramic views of sea, sky and coastline are well worth the climb.
